A bit of a challenge

So I bought this screen press about 2/3 years ago. I’ve been able to print most of what I needed but it’s been a challenge and I’ve had to get creative. It came with no instructions, I had to YouTube a few videos to find how others set theirs up. It’s not adjustable, and the platen is extremely small. I’d suggest buying a bigger one. Once assembled and sorted, I’ve been able to print the basics I’ve needed but, all in all there are better presses and easier setups.

Buyer beware, this thing is terrible

I would probably give this press 0 stars if I could. The overall design is just so flawed. It’s near impossible to adjust the off contact in a remotely accurate way, so getting a nice print is pretty difficult. The bolts to adjust the screen angel are so close together that you need the right size wrench to be able to loosen. I really thought this press would make printing easier but instead I’m frustrated every single time. What a disappointed. If you do still decide to buy it, know that it will only work with aluminum screens, so if you don’t have any yet make sure you take that additional cost into account. Oh and it doesn’t come with any assembly instructions, and the platen it comes with was labeled as youth even though it does not say that anywhere in the time description.

Can this press be used with a hat attachment for printing on foam trucker hats?

Hello and thank you for reaching out with a question! The DIY print shop has a platen bracket with the dimensions of 3"x1.5". Neither of our hat attachments will work with the DIY press but if you can find one that will slide on with a bracket that fit on the DIY press arm.

Can I let the ink dry overnight with open warm air environment

If you are printing with Water Base or Plastisol inks, both will need heat to cure.

Hi Ben,

Yes, for stability you will need to mount it to a table top or desk top - something that is up high enough and also stable. The kit comes with mounting screws for doing so. If you download the DIY print shop manual at the bottom of the product page, you can see deeper instructions regarding the kit.

Is the platen adjustable?

The platen in the DIY kit is screwed on and not adjustable but you can use a platen with the bracket to make it adjustable.

In the instruction I do not see anything about what to do with the gas struts? I attached it but they seem to not work? Please advise

The struts connect to the two ball pins - one located on the base, and the other located on the blue print arm. Once connected, if the struts are not expanding or contracting please call 800-314-6390 for further assistance. One option would be reversing the struts, its possible they were assembled backwards. They might require some elbow grease to take off, so don't hesitate to apply pressure for removal - not a massive amount of pressure, but just enough.
