best small investment.

Super simple to use, and has been one of the tools that have made our shop a lot more efficient, as we've been growing our need for efficient consistency has been key and the exposure calculator takes all the guesswork out of it. We use it on every one of our screens, allowing us to keep watch if things like the light potency or film density are changing over time so we can adjust accordingly, so not only has it removed our need for sometimes re-burning screens but it helps to keep a gauge on other supplies/equipment. Only wish we'd bought this sooner

My first screen printing equipment

The explosion calculator is amazing. Right now especially with UV index being really high outside it's possible to get great exposure using the Sun. About 63 seconds got me to the seven step with a UV index of 10. I just asked Google what the UV index was outside. Don't forget to press it with some thick glass but have some thick 1.375 to 1.5 inches worth foam that fits the inside dimensions of the frame so you can have a nice firm pressure on your screen and artwork against the glass when exposing. It has to have about 50 lb worth of pressure so press firmly. The emulsion I used was the rxp dual. It's really forgiving unlike the photo emulsion from what I read up on. Don't be afraid if it's your first time screen printing because you can use your ironing board as a press if you buy some frames from here along with your other necessities like squeegee and inks and chemicals like degreaser and emulsion remover. That's what I did and am using. The only thing you would have to buy are some butterfly clamps and some deep throat you u clamps to hold it down. Don't be afraid and have fun use the 21 step calculator to dial it in. Also don't hit the screen with high pressure right away. Let it soak in some water so the water can pull apart the exposed emulsion and then use a spray bottle to start removing the rest of the exposed work. 21 step calculator and the rxp dual emulsion and some frames especially 230 mesh is a fun way to make your art work start making money for you. I can't wait to save up and buy a real press. Thank you Ryonet and screen printing.com!

Works like it should!

This has been the most helpful item I’ve brought into my shop. I never realized how much I’ve “under exposed” before purchasing this. Super helpful!!

Thanks Jeff! Yea, I stress getting one of these to every customer I ever talk to about getting a correct exposure time. They are a lifesaver!

Less guesswork

I wish I had bought this way earlier! Its small, so you can use it at the same time you expose a large image. Might seem kinda expensive for just a little strip at first, but it is quality made and will pay for itself in saved time and resources over and over again!
