Ready to level up your manual printing? The Rudy Press is a game-changer for consistency and reducing fatigue, but first, you need to get this Skill-building tool ready for action. These step-by-step instructions walk you through the assembly and setup for The Rudy Press. This equipment is built for manual printers who need repeatable print cycles and retail-ready results without the physical strain of a long production run.
TOOLS REQUIRED:
- 5/32" Allen wrench (included)
- Phillips screwdriver
- Pliers
- 7/16" end wrench (optional)
- 1/2" Allen wrench (optional)
WHAT’S IN THE BOX:
- Slider rail aluminum extrusions (x2)
- Sliding cross bar assembly (x1)
- Side pivot assembly (1 RH / 1 LH)
- Slider extrusion clamping clips (x4)
- Squeegee stop adjusters (x2)
- Handle assembly with foam grip (x1)
- 12" Flood bar assembly (x1)
- Hardware kit (x1)
- Top connecting cross bar (x1)
- Flood bar connecting cross bar (x1)
- Handle connecting cross bar (x1)
- Squeegee connecting cross bar (x1)
- Squeegee attachment tab with bushing (x1)
- 12" Squeegee assembly - 70 durometer (x1)
STEP 1
Attach the squeegee holding tab to the squeegee holding cross bar. Fasten these using two 1/4" x 1" button head screws and two 1/4" acorn nuts. Make sure the bushing is facing forward during this step.
STEP 2
Attach the left side pivot assembly to the three crossbars. Start with the handle connecting cross bars into the countersunk holes to ensure proper left and right orientation. Follow up with the flood bar and squeegee connecting cross bars. Repeat this entire process for the right side pivot assembly.
STEP 3
Attach the handle with the foam grip into the upper pivot arms. Secure it using the two supplied 5/8" socket cap screws. You can use a 1/2" Allen wrench if you want extra leverage here.
STEP 4
Attach the top cross bar assembly, which has the pre-installed black adjustment screws, onto the side pivot assemblies. Fasten with four 1/4" button head screws. Note that the shorter black pre-installed screws should face the handle side.
STEP 5
Install the main pivot assembly onto the sliding cross bar attachment. Fasten with four 1/4" button head screws. Check that the pivot assembly is aligned left to right before you do your final tightening.
STEP 6
Install the spring holding studs into the threaded holes of the sliding cross bar and the flood bar pivots. Start the 1/4" socket cap screws into the flanged nuts backwards. The serrated side of the nuts should face the attachment holes. Screw the studs about 1/8" deep into the metal and lock them in place with the serrated nuts.
STEP 7
Install the springs onto the studs you just installed. Start carefully with the upper stud and stretch the spring onto the cross bar studs.
STEP 8
Slide the slider rail extrusions into the V-wheel assemblies of the cross bar with the aluminum flat bar facing downward. If the rollers are too loose or stiff, you can adjust the V-wheels. They should slide easily without any left to right play.
STEP 9
Set the Rudy Press assembly onto a 20" x 24" frame. Align the edges of the slider extrusion with the rear of the frame and center it left to right. Secure the slider extrusions with two clamping clips. Do not overtighten, just secure them enough so they stay put during use.
STEP 10
Slide the squeegee stop adjusters into the V-grooves of the slider extrusion. You can move these to set the limit of your squeegee stroke based on your image size. Hand tighten these adjustments.
STEP 11
Slide the main pivot assembly toward the front of the screen to ensure the rails match the rear clamp spacing. Once aligned with the frame, install the front clamping clips. Again, do not overtighten.
STEP 12
Install the flood bar assembly into the threads of the holding cross bar. Fasten it using the supplied 5/16" shoulder bolt and spacer.
STEP 13
Install the squeegee assembly into the threads of the holding cross bar. Fasten this with the supplied 5/16" shoulder bolt.
