The Riley Flash Quartz Dryer is built for printers who value speed, consistency, and control. Getting your flash set up properly from the start helps you stay efficient and avoid costly mistakes.
Step-by-Step Setup Instructions
1. Adjust Flash Height
Use the rear knob to raise or lower the flash head. Note: there is a small bolt on the neck of the stand that must be loosened before the height knob can turn freely. Set the unit 1 to 2 inches above your platen. Lowering the distance can shorten flash time but make sure garments clear safely.
2. Level and Stabilize

Adjust the leveling feet to keep the flash stable and prevent movement during operation.
3. Power On
Flip the lockout switch up to power on the unit.
4. Set Flash Time

Use the digital controls to set your flash duration. We recommend starting between 9 and 11 seconds.
Note: Avoid pressing the Set or Reset buttons, which change factory defaults. Your last used setting will be saved when the unit is powered off.
5. Select Heat Zones

Choose between top, bottom, or both zones depending on print location and coverage. Use both zones for heating platens evenly.
6. Choose a Trigger

- Foot Pedal for manual activation
- Motion Sensor for hands-free flashing
The motion sensor triggers on entry and exit. If your press spins clockwise and the sensor is on the opposite side of the entry point, add one second to your flash time.
To disable the sensor, place a small piece of painter’s tape over it.
7. Warm Up and Test

Before production, preheat your platens and use a laser temperature gun to verify your flash temperature. This helps you fine-tune your timing for consistent results.
