AccuRip™ is a PostScript interpreter called a Raster Image Processor or RIP. Without PostScript it is impossible to print high-quality halftone dots on a "non-PostScript" inkjet printer such as an Epson. Even if your printer has PostScript, it may not be able to print halftone dots because PostScript is often just used to calibrate and balance colors on an inkjet. The Epson "RIP" does not print halftone dots, but AccuRip™ does!
AccuRip™ works with the following Epson Printers: Artisan 50, Artisan 1430, Workforce 1100 & 1110, R280, R285, R290, 1390, 1400, 1410, 1500W, R1800, R1900, R2000, R2400, R3000, T-3000, T-5000, T-7000, 3800, 3880, 4000, 4450, 4800, 4880, 4900, 7000, 7600, 7700, 7800, 7890, 7900, 9450, 9600, 9700, 9800, 9880, 9890, 9900, 10600, 11880 and PM G4500. This means that in the future when you may need a new printer or larger format you don't have to buy new software!
Premium Waterproof Rite Film:
Rite Film is the ultimate in waterproof positive technology. We've tested this film extensively along with several large screen printers throughout the country. The results have been outstanding. This 4 mil thick specially formulated film is ideal for optimum density, drying time, halftone shape, image clarity and longevity. Rite Film works with both pigment and dye based inks. Available only from Ryonet. Using an Epson printer for film output requires waterproof films.
May not ship same day
by Lee -
I can not give a full review because I am still waiting for it to ship as I have been for the last seven days. When I ordered it said, "available to ship today." When I called yesterday I was told they were waiting on the paper in the kit. I explained the situation that I was on a time crunch, the customer service person would not release my order of the printer even after I told them I have paper and need this printer.
Endless waste of money
by Cameron -
Don't do it. It's been two longs years of wasting expensive transparency paper and even more expensive ink and I'm finally done. There wasn't one point where this printer consistently put out good films. Between the beginning of the process and the end there are infinite amounts of ways for this product to not work. Don't waste your money on this (mostly ACCURIP). Even if the software is working fine the heads on the printer get clogged frequently, and since you have to rely on 6 heads to be clear of clogs, you're likely to run into problems.
If you can afford more, avoid this one.
As has been said by other reviewers, this printer is plagued with frequently clogged heads and ruined vellums. We've owned ours for about seven years and it finally died last year. By "died," I mean the heads clogged and I tried every trick I had tried before to get it working but nothing worked. You can find one of these dead on ebay for around $200. We don't believe they're worth that much.
Serving us great as our first film output system
by Nate Bueno -
We have been using this package for the better part of a year and it works very well when used properly. I have found that every issue with it tied back to something I did wrong in settings.
<br>Blackmax: Been through two sets of ink and no clogs to report but I am actively knocking on wood. I will say I am looking into other ink options. My wife reminds me I hate spending money on printer ink for anything though.
<br>Printer: Excellent and works great. I can see why this is an industry go-to.
<br>Accurip: Spend some time and learn this. Has served us extremely well but you have to take it slow and read all instructions & tutorials. We use it on a Mac. Biggest tip is know when to use this and when to print direct! This isn't for spot color!
